Cabinets and Tiles

Think Natural! Natural and earth colours and textures are HOT HOT HOT for kitchen tiles and cabinets. Also proving very vogue are shades of soft white, through to pale warm greys and taupe, these echo colours found in nature.  A sleek minamilist look with white on white has also been popular in 2010.

Whats in for Colours?

Popular colours and effects are tipped to be based on shades, combinations and textures found in nature.  For kitchens, this means pale stone colours and textures, grained timber – rich and dark as well as bleached and light. Combine this with a splash of fresh green or a natural stone or soft Blue. If you love BIG, BOLD and BRIGHT shades give burnt orange, crimson reds and sunny yellows a try. If you're after something more 1920's glamour style, try taupe, violet greys, charcoal and soft, smoke browns.  Also look out for glamour accessories, appliances and paints in luminous pearl and metallic finishes.

Splash backs

GLASS, GLASS, GLASS which provides a seamless, modern finish. Alternatively moziac tiled splashbacks can offer a variety of textured options.

Benchtops

Caesarstone and natural granite also remain popular. Timber effect laminate bench tops such as Reed, Bamboo and Ash are also big this year. 

Appliances

Fully integrated as opposed to semi-integrated appliances are the next big thing in kitchens.  This is where items such as the fridge, dishwasher and microwave oven are completely concealed within a cupboard providing a seamless finish Stainless Steel appliances continue to be popular, but do look out for those with streak-free finishes for easy cleaning.  Appliance cupboards are also a good idea to keep those appliance out of site!
